"Visit to General Outpatients"

About: Calderdale Royal Hospital / General surgery

On the visit( 22/2/2017) I was hurriedly seen by a member of the vascular team an appointment I waited 7 weeks for. I was told the previous scans had been mis placed and I would be brought back for a scan in the vein clinic. Despite the fact I had suffered from re occurring bouts of cellulite, superficial thrombophlebitis, and lymphodema since late October and had been plied with 6 lots of anti biotic the problem was still apparent. My leg was quickly looked at I was asked nothing much and despite the fact I told this person I was experiencing a great deal of pain, was issued with topical cream which they doubted would work, 7 weeks for that treatment which was no treatment at all.

It is now a total of 4weeks since I was seen and on calling the hospital they said it is 6-8weeks before I would get the scan. Now Im told I won't be seen until 10/5/2017 double the time. The following week I had a 1st appointment with the lymphoma nurse who was disgusted at the state of my leg and contacted this department of their concerns. The nurse also made emergency appointments with my GP for anti biotic and analgesia. A dvt scan was hurriedly arranged for the 2nd time and thankfully I had no clots.

My Gp also sent a strong worded e mail about the delay. I re visited my GP with the new date they rang about the date of the appointment to voice all their concerns and was told the consultant is away until the 2/4/2017. I received a text to remind me of the appointment telling me its costing £118 if people don't turn up. How much are the N H S costing I would like to know.? The problem I have is still ongoing so I look forward to developing all the above again till I get seen and treated. How does any of this save the NHS money?
