I trawled the internet in the days before my surgical abortion trying to get as much information as possible, and I seemed to be met with either mixed or negative reviews.. so here is mine.
I arrived at the at clinic for 11am appointment, was waiting for a few minutes in reception waiting room then taken through to the consultation room. I answered a quick few questions and then was taken to the main waiting room. This area was nice and clean, tv and magazines, toilets etc.
Got called through within 5 mins to a nurse who gave me a scan, took my blood, and asked me if I'd like any counselling or another further question.
After around an hour I was called through to be told there was a delay in theatre and 2-3 hours would be added to my time, I was then given the option to continue waiting or opt for a medical termination. I chose to wait for the surgical.
3 hours later, myself and 4 other girls were taken upstairs, I was 2nd in, got undressed in a private room, and was escorted into theatre. At each point a nurse was explaining what was going on.
In theatre I was shown onto the bed and a lovely nurse started to chat to me and held me hand. I was put under sedation within minutes and woke up in a recovery chair, alongside the lady in front of me, which was nice.
I don't remember feeling any pain what so ever and I woke up with net knickers and a large pad on. After tea and some biscuits I was asked to use the loo, get changed if I felt okay and then had my blood pressure taken and given antibiotics.
Overall I felt relief, a very long wait, but once in theatre it was extremely efficient. The worst part of the day was waiting around without food or drink, however you will survive. I would opt for a surgical, minimal pain and the staff were lovely getting you back on your feet. Now at home and resting!
"Not nearly as bad as some of the reviews!"
