"Great care in first ever stay in Hospital"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Hairmyres / Trauma & Orthopaedics (Wards 1 & 5)

(as a parent/guardian),

My teenage son was admitted with a broken arm and required surgery. His care from the moment he entered the Accident and Emergency department until he was discharged was great. All the staff from the porter to the consultant introduced themselves, had a smile, kept us up to date and spoke to my son involving him in the decisions about his care. Ward 5 staff were fabulous during his overnight stay in their ward and were a welcoming team who delivered great care ensuring he was pain free and making sure he had the WiFi access code- definitely made his first ever stay in hospital a great experience for him. Thank you for looking after him so well.

Dear EKresident,

I'm so pleased that the staff throughout your son's journey in Hairmyres Hospital were able to make him feel comfortable at a worrying time.

Communication is a huge element of life these days so to know we got it right with regards to keeping you all informed is wonderful news.And probably more important to your son the fact we have WiFi available may have helped a lot.

It can be traumatic having to stay overnight especially for the first time, the staff in Ward 5 will be delighted that they were able to provide such a good experience for your son.

I hope he is recovering well, and I look forward to sharing your post with the staff,
