About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Accident and emergency

I arrived to A&E at 13:30 and was classed as a major, I was seen to have my one taken and was told to sit and wait in the waiting room to see the doctor. I waited 2 hours to be seen by the doctor who was lovely and very understanding. This doctor told me I would have to wait an hour and a half for my blood results. 5 hours later I still hadn't been told anything so I went to reception to complain. In the mean time a nurse came into the waiting room on two occasions and called patients only by their first name which was also my name. I was then called through to see a doctor who I thought was a gynaecologist to have to go through and explain my whole symptoms to again. They didn't have my urine results but told me my bloods had shown an infection. And that they would refer me to a gynaecologists and they walked off. I was left waiting in the bay unattended until a nurse came to me. 2 hours after that it took both me and my husband complaining, being ignored by various members of staff. Then finally a gynaecologist came to see me , the nurse gave rhem the incorrect patients notes for someone else and told me their urine test pregnancy results, I had to tell the gynaecologist that I was not that patient. To find they had misplaced my own results and then finally to be told my results were completely different than before.

I was at this hospital for 8 hours without eating or being informed of any waiting times. And no body asking if I was ok or offering pain medication.

It cost £8 to park which is outrageous.

Will never visit this hospital again.

I am so very sorry to read about your experience in our A&E department, particularly that you were given results from another patient’s notes. The department has been experiencing high levels of attendance but you should be kept informed about any delays and waiting times. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
