"Staff on the cardio ward were superb; care,..."

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Cardiology

20th Feb, suffered nasty chest pains and severe heart rate of 240 bpm and high BP, hot, cold, clammy and shaking uncontrollably. I called 999 and an ambulance was almost immediate and after being checked out etc, in A&E I was told I'd suffered a mild heart attack. Once on the Acute Medical Unit, (some of the young staff were wonderful) I suffered another heart attack at 3 am, pain greater and I was very fearful. Had immediate pain relief which I was thankful for. I was seen immediately and headed for the Cardio unit 7. Here, I had my own room with a view and a TV!

The care from the Cardio nurses and consultants were simply the best. Pleasant, reassuring, comforting and very professional. Once in the Cath lab to have a stent inserted, the staff were superlative. Can't remember all names, but the Dr who performed the op was very positive and jolly and really made me feel at ease, as well as three members of staff who really took care of me, as I was a wreck of nerves! I won't forget their kindness and positivity, which I so needed. Just also to mention, the cardio nurse that informed me regarding my aftercare and how to deal after suffering from a HA who was wonderful! I was able to tell the nurse things that I have never even told my own doctor!

Every Cardio nurse I came across, was pleasant and very sweet, yet I knew they were all busy!

Anyway, I came home today, but I wanted to send off this review as I was so impressed, and wanted to tell folk never to knock our medical staff, as pushed as they are, or the NHS as there is no way I could possibly fault them. Even the ambulance service was excellent. This review is a bit rambly, I know, but wanted to put this down before I go to bed and rest. Well done QA and all at Cardio, thank you for everything! Thank you all act cardio ward C7!!

Dear Charlotte

Thank you for taking the time to share your valued feedback with us. I will be sure to share your comments with the staff involved who I'm sure they will be delighted to receive them.

I am so pleased to hear that the staff were 'simply the best' and were reassuring, comforting and very professional.

I am delighted to note that despite your heart attack you are now home and would like to take this opportunity to wish you well for the future.

Kind regards.

Debbie
