Thanks to all the staff on Eashing ward who looked after my father so well and helped him die with dignity when there was no chance of recovery.
I felt confident that Dad was being taken care of medically but it was the kindness and sympathy of the staff that made his experience and ours as a family very special.
Some details that were important to us:
being allowed to visit out of hours
all the nursing, care and domestic staff were friendly and took time to chat with Dad
doctors came to find us rather than the other way round
Dad's prognosis and treatment options were explained with detail and clarity
we were listened to and given time to understand the end of life pathway options
Dad was treated as a whole person rather than as a collection of medical conditions
There was a lot of laughter, smiles and warmth on the ward. It's obviously a great team.
Thank you
"Thanks to the staff on Eashing ward"
