"Very poor"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital / Accident and emergency

Took my girlfriend after her pain was getting worse.

Was greeted by the most ignorant and rude receptionist. Went into waiting area to see a few genuine people in pain but mainly the room was full of people hanging around and police watching them.

We were told only 1 doctor on and there were 31 people needed seeing.

Waiting time 7 hours.

After a while my girlfriend became thirsty so I had a wonder round to see if they had a water machine, unable to find one and being in a rush I had no money (water in a bottle wad on sale at £1.50. I foolishly asked the receptionist where i could get a glass of water from I was told in no uncertain terms it's wasn't their job to help and to ask a nurse.

I could clearly see the nurses were busy as one passed I asked were I could find a cup they barked can't u see I'm busy.

I wasn't asking the world and I would of got it myself all they had to do was point me in the right direction.

3 hours passed and it felt like I was sat in the audience of a jezza Kyle show. People hanging around and police sat doing nothing, I counted 7 officers.

It was so bad we left my girlfriend would rather hoped her pain would pass than to wait longer.

We went to reception to say we were leaving as not to waste anyone's time calling names out etc. The look the receptionist gave was as if to say why are you wasting my time.

I have never been to a n e before and as I am aware in big set up you get great staff and bad staff.

I have worked since I was 16 and paid tax from day one.

As I left the overwhelming sense of let down hit me.

I felt I had let my girlfriend down and I feel the nhs have let me down.

I have always supported the nhs I used to think of it as something to be proud of.

Long hours and heavy work loads I mean 31 ppl and one doctor how could they deliver their best under those conditions impossible.

As I write this it's my turn I'm the one in pain but knowing what awaits me in a n e.

I think I will take the pills and hope it passes.

First impressions count.
