"Successful Operation and Care"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / General Surgery

(as a relative),

My father suffered badly and frequently from a blocked bowel for two long years resulting in severe pain, voluminous vomiting and dehydration. He was at the end of his tether and begged for an operation to help him. He was under the care of another hospital and consultant in Ayrshire who failed to locate the blockage after numerous investigations, admissions and clinics. They also indicated they were unlikely to operate on him because of his age. When he was admitted as an emergency to the University Hospital Crosshouse with kidney failure caused by severe dehydration and vomiting, things changed dramatically for the best. Mr Khine took charge of his care, fixed the kidney issue in two days then immediately looked into the bowel problems after telling the family "I will find this, I will fix this, I have no problems operating on your father because he is the fittest 84 year old I have met". He found the blockage on the first X-Ray procedure (Barium) and operated the next day on Christmas eve. We cannot thank Mr Khine enough for this wonderful Xmas present! My father recovered very quickly and is now fully back to normal and enjoying his charity work as a chauffeur for cancer patients arriving from Arran on the ferry for treatment on the mainland. Mr Khine and his team are a credit to the NHS!

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear BestXmasPresentEver,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us. I am sorry your Dad had to go through so much but it is wonderful to hear how well he has done in his recovery.

It is truly a lovely testament to Mr Khine and his team and I am sure they will be delighted to hear this lovely story. All credit to your father too, what a difference his chauffeuring will make to patients coming to the mainland for their treatment, so please pass thank to your Dad for that too.

Best wishes,

Eunice
