"Excellent maternity care"

About: Newham General Hospital / Maternity care

I have recently given birth to a baby girl in Newham hospital, I suffered with pregnancy complications for which I had to be induced at 37 weeks. The care I received from the medical and midwifery staff was outstanding from the beginning of my journey starting at the antenatal clinics all the way to postnatal ward. I felt listened to and included in my care and decision making by the staff throughout. I felt understood by the antenatal clinic midwife when

I was upset about my condition.

From 29 weeks I had to attend to MAU on a weekly basis. The staff on the reception are great, it makes a big difference to be able to walk in and you feel welcomed with, friendly atmosphere. They always had a smile on their face for me - thank you. The midwives in MAU were excellent really going out of their way sometimes trying to reassure me and make sure I was looked after and also work around me when I wasn't able to wait. I spent many weeks coming back to MAU and always had a good experience.

The birth itself was very special (27/02/17). The midwives who delivered my baby were absolutely amazing.

You feel very vulnerable when in pain and scared, but they took all my worries away. They were gentle, professional, very caring and most of all treated me and my husband with respect and dignity. Words cannot explain how beautiful the birth was even through the pain, I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you so much!

From my previous experience many changes have been made for better. Yes you do tend to wait for your induction for couple of days and yes not all staff are perfect, but really give credit were it's due. Especially now when times are really tough for NHS, Thank you to you all, thank you for always introducing yourself to me when entering the room to talk to my midwife. It made me feel included and respected. Thank you for the positive atmosphere and the encouragement you gave me, thank you for looking after my husband too! Thank you to the HCA's on postnatal ward for going out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. Thank you for giving our family the best start we could ask for.
