I was admitted in an emergency on Friday 3rd March
As a Chemo patient at the Ayelsford unit, the advice was to go through A&E.
There I was treated very rapidly, efficiently and with great respect and kindness by A&E and Surgical Team, on standby. Following a scan and chest X ray, I was transferred to Oken Ward in isolation, in case of infection. I spent the night and following day there and again was treated with great professionalism.
I was then transferred to Avon Ward, where I remained for 10 nights.
The investigations and care were superb, always being kept informed and treated by nursing and medical staff in a kind, efficient manner.
Although a very busy medical ward, I always felt that nothing was too much trouble
.Tests, investigations and treatment continued until I was considered fit for discharge and I was able to come home in the knowledge that I was no longer requiring in-patient treatment.
Staff at all levels were patient, friendly and professional. this includes all disciplines from domestic staff, nurses of all levels and medical staff who were all a great support and helped my recovery. I am so grateful to the whole team, and consider myself very lucky to had such excellent care in our local hospital
My sincere thanks and appreciation to all involved and a special note of thanks to my Oncology Consultant for her regular attention above and beyond all expectations.
