"No idea of timescales for urgent appointment"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as a relative),

My husband has been referred urgently to the Neurosurgeons at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. He has been on the waiting list for 6 weeks currently. I have phoned to find out the waiting times for his urgent appointment and get told a different timescale each time I phone. I have been told that he will get seen slightly sooner than 18 weeks, within 4 to 10 weeks and also 18 weeks. In the meantime he has had to be reviewed again at Crosshouse Hospital who have again written requesting a more urgent appointment. My husband and myself feel quite frustrated by this as he could potentially require surgery and feel we are left in limbo at the moment as Crosshouse Hospital can do no more for us. We totally appreciate the fact that the Neurosurgery Department are dealing with many urgent referrals however getting different information is quite frustrating when we have been told that his condition is not getting better.

Hi CCBC

Firstly please accept my apologies for your husbands wait and lack of clarity about timescales. If you can email me directly with your husbands details on ann.gow@ggc.scot.nhs.uk I will follow up with our team in Neurosurgery and get back to you

Regards

Ann Gow
