What I liked

I consider that the excellent staff at Hammersmith and Queen Charlottes do an excellent job - I went in for a routine scan prior to an hysterectomy operation while feeling admitedly rather ropey.. The radiologist spotted a problem and I was given a Ct scan without delay and then passed to A&E to be admitted. To cut a long story short I had an ulcer in my gluteus medius muscles and after my body rejected the IV line ended up being given a blood transfusion for mild septacemia - at that point my operation was rushed forward and within days I was in intensive care recovering.. I was referred to QCCH in the first instance after an operation at my local hospital became too complex for them to handle - the facilities at QCCH enabled a Urologist as well as a Bowel specialist to assist the Gynacology team. There was lots of follow up too, more surgery and I was mostly returned to the same ward so that I would be familiar with the surroundings - what kindness.. Everyone was kind and caring and the ward was immaculate and regularly inspected.

What could be improved

The older side of the ward could do with modernising to match the newer addition - some of the bays are cramped which is difficult for the staff as well as the patients.

Anything else?

We are very lucky to have an excellent hospital like this in the area and it is a shame that most of the patients do not appreciate it.
