About: Claremont Hospital

What I liked

I was very impressed with the standard of care that the Claremont Hospital provided. From my initial consultation until the actual date of my surgery, it was 4 weeks (it would have only been 3 weeks but the surgeon was on annual leave for half term holiday). All the staff i met; from clerical through to theatre staff were extremely helpful, pleasant and informative.

I had a large, private bedroom with en-suite facilities. The room had a TV, telephone and a huge picture window which had a gorgeous view over the gardens. There was an extensive, patient menu with a variety of options at each meal time. My family also visited and they were able to make a choice from the restaurant downstairs and have their meal delivered up to my room so we could eat together.

The nurses were friendly and fully attentive to my needs and somehow managed to balance this without being obtrusive. I stayed overnight and i expected it to be quite noisy like a hospital ward, but i was amazed to find it so quiet and i had a perfect sleep. Exactly what you need after having surgery. I also noticed that during my stay, there was no rushing or dashing around from any of the staff. All the staff appeared calm and looked very content in their roles. I spoke to several nurses and ALL of them said how much they enjoyed working at the Claremont as it is a smaller hospital setting and this allowed them more time to focus on actual, one-to-one patient care. I can tell you first-hand, that it showed and I couldn't agree more!! The standard of care i received from the Claremont has far surpassed any treatment i have received from a large, city hospital. 10/10 Claremont. Excellent!!

What could be improved

I am an NHS employee and i had no idea the Claremont Hospital accepted referrals from my GP. This lack of knowledge clouded my initial choice when opting for my treatment. I therefore chose a generic NHS hospital and was faced with a long, frustrating, waiting list. BUT, after being enlightened about the Claremont Hospital i was empowered to finally make an informed choice about my care. I have to say it's one of the best decisions i've made. Had i have stayed with the generic NHS hospital, i would still have been sat, awaiting my surgery. Instead, my operation is now completed and i'm recovering at home. Brilliant!
