"Visit to A & E"

Having had a sleepless night with pains in my left shoulder. I went to a & e hoping that the source of the pain would be identified and treated. It started off well, in that I was given pain medication and a sling to support my painful shoulder. I also had a tracing of my heart useful, but again I just wanted to establish why I was having this horrendous pain.

I was finally called in to see a junior doctor, good at last I thought. To my extreme disappointment, having been re -questioned and examined, the conclusion was that needed to go back to my GP to request further investigations via a scan. The junior doctor had consulted their senior consultant and returned to me with this pointless information.

I was informed that I would get some cocodramol, the ibuprofen I would have to purchase.

My view - a complete waste of 4 hours Watford A & E did the basics, nothing more.

Once the pain returns I will be back to square one- The GP visit will be in the distant future as securing an appointment is always an issue. What is the point of

A & E??
