Not being put in a consulting room with another patient to wait to be seen after being called in from waiting room
Anything else?
No physical examination.
Following less than 5 minutes of questions, Consultant told me I needed a cystoscopy (most invasive test available!!!) and an ultrasound.
No other options given.
Only local anaethetic gel available to ease pain and discomfort of this procedure - this gel does not work for me!
Told no form of sedation available, nowhere in the country offers it - but actually they do!
No explanation of procedure, benefits or the multitude of serious risks I've since found out.
Told no female healthcare professional available to perform this investigation!!!!!
Told that "not even men have anything more than local anaesthetic gel" for this procedure "and they have longer urethras and you have to get past the prostate" - this does not make me feel any better, and makes me feel as though Consultant was trying to say that I should feel lucky to be female!
No response to email to PALS re distressing first consultation - not even to acknowledge my email!
