What I liked
Staff nurses, auxillaries and house keepers
always caring, friendly and helpful
What could be improved
having regular informative updates with medical, therapy and nursing staff about progress of relatives condition and to feel included, especially when relative is too sick or unable to give their own version of progress
attitude towards next of kin, did not feel a partnership between some of the staff and myself regarding care of my relative
felt needs of family members were largely overlooked by some staff
pain assessment and control
medical response time at weekends
furniture for patients
private areas for confidential meetings
rest place for visitors
continuity of information about visiting arrangements
Anything else?
Wish List for stroke assessment unit
Use of Abbey pain assessment tool if not already in use
Comfortable, appropriate chairs for stroke patients to sit in.
Information on where to overnight stay
information on where can eat and drink for visitors at Dereham hospital
rest place for visitors
quiet private place for patients and visitors(ie substitute chapel)
