"The wait was short and the reception ..."

About: St Mary's NHS Treatment Centre (Portsmouth)

What I liked

The wait was short and the reception staff were helpful.

What could be improved

The nurse I saw was very rude and to be honest, couldn't have been more unhelpful if she tried.

I was amazed- she was bordering on ignorant, something I would not expect to encounter in a factory nevermind a hospital from NHS staff. I went to the walk in centre with a back injury after moving house. I was greeted with the considerate phrase "and what do you want me to do?", followed by the standard uninterested generic advice that was not suited to my problems and gave nothing to help my situation.

I tried to illicit some advice from the nurse towards the end of the consultation and was given the following: "that's up to you", and again "that's up to you" at least five more times.

She also ignored my 4 old year little girl who asked her politely if she could eat crisps in the clinic and only got a reply when my partner asked on the little girls behalf.

Overall it was a pretty terrible experience and one I will not repeat. That particular nurse was appalling and I genuinely hope she reads this and changes her attitude towards the job.

Had I carried on like she did at work I would fully expect to face disciplinary action.
