"Interventional Oncology - Cryoablation"

I am writing in praise of Dr Wah and her team for the excellent treatment I received in early November 2016.

I was referred from Harrogate District Hospital to the team at St James' with the prognosis of possibly losing my left kidney as a consequence of a potential RCC.

However, after an initial consultation I was reassured that the amazing Dr Wah would be able to save my kidney by performing a ground breaking procedure of Cryoablation. As a very active 69 year old who enjoys cycling and many other active pursuits, you can imagine how elated I was to be told it would not involve surgery and a lengthy recovery and that I would not lose my kidney.

After a 4 hour procedure I had an overnight stay on Ward 97, where I was treated with excellent care and sent home the next day. Follow up telephone calls from Bali were much appreciated and an indication of the excellent support given to patients under Dr Wah's care.

One memory of my stay was being given steak and kidney pie for my evening meal, which I found highly amusing considering why I was there.

I have since had a 1 month and 3 month MRI scan and a detailed consultation with Dr Wah. This confirmed that the procedure had been a success and I am indebted to Dr Wah for her incredible skill and the team that supports her.
