I had to have a colonoscopy and like many people was fearful. The staff were very kind and supportive and treated me with a great deal of dignity and positive encouragement such that I didn't feel embarrassed and managed with just gas and air. It was uncomfortable in parts but the gas and air made it bearable - I was not in pain and the staff were reassuring throughout
Unfortunately I was one of the unlucky ones and something was found. The staff could not have been more compassionate. I know it's going to be a long hard road for me but I am immensely grateful about how I was treated during the procedure, their professionalism, and how they broke very bad news to me. No one wants a bad diagnosis but this helped make a very traumatic experience bearable. I know it's hard for them to have to tell you bad news and, let's face it, looking inside people's colons isn't exactly a glamorous job, which is why I have nothing but admiration for the staff. I really cannot thank them enough. I hope they realise how much their patients appreciate their efforts.
