I attended the urgent advice service two weeks ago for suspected dehydration. I was 10 weeks pregnant at the time and very unwell with severe sickness, and understably worried being my first pregnancy.
I was seen fairly quickly, was taken to a booth which I was consulted by the dr (whilst clearly hearing the patient next to me) I provided a urine sample, which confirmed that I needed fluids- however I was questioned very abruptly "what else have you got to tell me?" no eye contact or warmness. I was then told that I had come to the wrong place and had to go to a&e. I asked the dr is I could have some written confirmation of my results to show the dr at a&e, I was just told "no- you'll just have to do another sample" note- I was severely dehydrated so providing samples was not easy!!
I then attended a&e where I was treated completely differently- however the dr there was very annoyed that results were not provided to me.
I just feel that there was not a lot of caring going on during a time where I felt very vulnerable and made to feel stupid for goingI will not return.
