"Lacking in empathy"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital / Accident and emergency

I was with my husband in A&E on Friday morning at 7.30am, it wasn't very busy, just a few people waiting, he was having heavy nose bleeds ( been bleeding on and off for days) they cauterised his nose twice without success, tested his blood pressure, which was very high but didn't seem to find it an urgency! no blood was taken either, a nurse told me in another ward that his blood should have been taken and that his blood pressure was so high he could have had an heart attack! it seems to me that a lot of the A&E staff are very confident but incompetent. Just have to add that I was talking to an elderly lady who had been there from 8am until 2pm in a lot of pain, not one nurse had offered her any pain killers, that poor lady was then transferred up to Surgical Triage unit but still didn't receive any pain relief until 6pm, a lot of nurses need to go back to college to learn empathy and compassion!!!
