As an active & healthy young adult that looks after her health and exercise regularly, I requested an appointment with the Physiotherapist in this center after I was carrying with a pain in my hip for 8 months.
2 months after the fortnight treatment, following the prescribed exercises and with zero improvement on my pain, I was seen by the senior physio. This person gave me such an apocalyptic and nonsense diagnostic that any individual in my situation would have run away crying after listening to it.
I was told that my body wasn't aligned, that my rip cage was too prominent, that I one leg is longer than the other, and all this statements were made with little or non sensitivity at all, talking to the junior physio about myself as if I was a dummy laying on the bed.
When I prompt and suggested- considering my body was such in a bad condition as per the senior physiotherapist examination- that they refer me for an X-ray exam they answered me straight away that there wasn't point for an X-ray as it wouldn't determine anything.
Ignoring their words, I went myself to the GP and after explaining all the situation, the doctor wisely referred me to Epsom hospital- 2 weeks after I had a phone call from the doctor saying that I have HIP DYSPLASIA, a dysfunction on my hip that might be treated with surgery.
Thanks I followed my instinct and I listened to my body, otherwise I would have carried on doing exercises that would damage even more my problem.
Hopefully staff in this center will take a note of this issue and will listen to their patients to avoid similar situations happening. As human beings we should be treated with a sense of respect and give importance to the opinion of patients as, in the end, it is their body and they know better than the physio if their pain is remaining.
Regards,
A very disappointed patient.
