"Trying to make a GP appointment."

About: Lothian Community Services

(as the patient),

I had a serious allergic reaction, face swollen and red almost fainted and vomited. I contacted my GP surgery the following morning at 8am to make an appointment only to be told I had to attend the open surgery that morning or make an apt and the next available one was in two weeks! When I asked why I could not see my GP that afternoon I was informed by the receptionist that they didn't do that anymore as their system had changed about 4 months ago. When I said I was not aware of these changes and had not received any information regarding these changes I was told there is a sign on the surgery wall! Not much use when fortunately I am not a regular attendant. I am extremely disappointed by this change, the lack of information from the Practice regarding this and the rather curt and unhelpful attitude of the receptionist. In the past I could not fault anything.

Dear Tarifa,

Thank you for your feedback about your difficulties making an appointment with your GP, I can only appreciate how frustrating this must have been for you.

The majority of GP practices in Lothian are independent and l would encourage you to contact the practice directly as it may be with your feedback they could make sure that up to date information on how to make an appointment is available on their website.

I do hope you are now feeling better.

Kind regards

Jeannette
