"I took my daughter who has special ..."

About: Horsham Hospital

What could be improved

I took my daughter who has special needs for an x ray and there wasn't anyone in reception for a long time as they were talking out the back.

The staff appeared to be having one big break and then the phone rang so a nurse appeared and didn't make eye contact with me once after the phone call had finnished , she took my details and i said i had waited a long time and would i be waiting very long to be seen all the time having to struggle to get her to make eye contact. She then said you have just got here as she had only just gone out and as i'm not stupid and i won't stand for that nonsence i informed her i had been waiting a long time and if she continued i would get a manager and we would see too check if she had been slacking off. My daughter was then handled very roughly during her xray to the point of almost her crying in pain as she is a wheelchair user, she was not only forced to stand but also rushed and i did exsplain that my daughter had learning disabilitys so the nurse then starts shouting but my daughter is not deaf and this exsperience was so bad that she will not go to a hospital again and i won't make her. I then took my daughter out and the receptionist nurse not only made eye contact but gave me a dirty look and i heard her say chav. I was shocked at such an unprofessional attitute and when i got home i had to give my daughter pain killers and she was very upset from what had happened and i felt terrible as they had done that to my child as i stood there.

If we are ever refered to this department again i would refuse. Some nurses are heavy handed and it is a shame becouse i know some proffessionals at this hospital to be very good at what they do.
