"Premature baby care in neonatal unit"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Maternity care

(as a carer),

My daughter was born 8 weeks premature and I can not thank the staff enough at the neonatal unit at Crosshouse maternity hospital. The staff go above and beyond their job remit. They work extremely hard with a high turnover and very busy environment. They showed they really cared, which made it easier to leave our daughter each night in their care.

They make the journey easier for you through a very difficult and stressful time. The special touches of Christmas and new year cards made from our daughter was very thoughtful and appreciated. The pictures the staff took and gave us was soo special also.

The staff were supportive to us as parents and always ensured we were kept informed of our daughters care, our opinion was sought regarding all stages of our daughters care and our wishes respected.

We would just like to thank all the staff that helped care for our daughter while she was in the neonatal unit, but also the staff in the labour ward who helped her to arrive into this world safely.

the only thing that could be improved is if there could have been more consistency regarding advice on feeding

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Hairspray,

Congratulations on your new wee bundle of joy. While this must have been a very difficult and worrying time, it seems like you had all the support you needed from the staff. It fair warms the cockles of your heart and is indeed excellent to hear. I am sure the staff will be delighted to see this too.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Not only is it great for the staff, I am sure it helps other 'soon to be Mums' too.

All the very best to you all,

Eunice
