On 16 November I had an appointment with my GP complaining of pain when urinating.
He advised an appointment with the practice nurse for a PSA blood test.
This was carried out on 21 November. The result came back on 25 November. The reading was 33.4 so my GP telephoned me immediately and set in train a series of tests at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, as there was a possibility of cancer.
The response from the Urology Department at the RUH as first class.
I had initial consultation on 7 December, A cystoscopy on 20 December, an MRI scan on 22 December and a Ultrasound on 24 December, a follow-up consultation on 6 January at which I was given another PSA blood test. As the result was still high at 15.5 I had a pre-op on 12 January, Biopsy on 24 January, a follow-up appointment on 9 February at which I was given the 'all clear.' A superb service.
