After visiting king georges hospital for treatment for the first time I realized the admin system is in total chaos. instead of being given an appointment on discharge, i was told it would be sent in the post. When i did receive a letter, it was for an outpatients appointment. I called and was told i would receive a letter for my operation and that the out patients appointment could be changed if the surgery was after the out patients appt date. I think the consultants Secretary doesn't like answering phones as their answering machine is permanently on. I then received a pre op assesment. After this appointment I went to see admin to find out when the op was. I was told they had no record of me waiting for any operation. I then called..I was told that admin remembered me but I still wasn't on any op list. They looked into finding my pre assesment ppt work which was missing. I was eventually offered a op date and was asked if i really did have a pre assesment appointment. I again explained that i had physically walked to their office after the pre assesment appointment and thats why they remembered me. At this point i seriously wondered if they knew what they were doing as i was offered a op date without pre assesment ppr work. After weeks of putting up with this nonsence I received treatment elsewhere.
what a total and utter shambles the admin system is. Ppl are lovley but how the hospital expect staff to work with such a dinasour of a system is beyond me. It doesnt seem to have any structure to it, its embarrasing for staff and it needs to be sorted out. In the end I had no confidence what so ever in the hospital and headless chickens come to mind.
head of King Georges Hospital...you should support your staff more and give them computer systems fit for purpose. These ppl put a lot of effort into trying their best to work with systems that obviously need to be reviewed and discarded.
"Admin is a shambles"
