"Taking the "scare" factor out of braces"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Orthodontics

(as the patient),

I started off at Good Hope for orthodontic treatment in 2011. Over the last 6 years I have found the staff to be helpful and methodical in what they do, taking the "scare" factor out of braces. The extra touches like allowing me to choose my colours to go on my braces was really nice which meant I didn't hate wearing the braces themselves.

In terms of medical care, my teeth are in a much better condition, the initial problems have been resolved and I now have great teeth 100% for free.

My only criticism of this service provided by the Good Hope Orthodontic department concerns time: when there was a shortage of staff my treatment was effectively delayed by a year, a year when I didn't have to be wearing braces. Although staff were helpful and polite in dealing with this situation, time between appointments was stretching to months instead of the required 6 weeks.

Overall, very happy with the service provided, would reccommend.

Dear abcde

Thank you for your feedback regarding your long term treatment in the Orthodontics Department at Good Hope Hospital.;

I am so pleased to read that you have found the staff to be helpful, taking the scare factor out of having braces for you, and that following several years of treatment, your teeth are in a much better condition, your initial problems have been resolved and you are happy with how your teeth look now.

I appreciate your frustration regarding timeframes and delays due to staff shortages, and I am sorry that this caused unavoidable delay to your treatment. I am however pleased to note that whenever this was the case, you found the staff to be helpful and polite whilst dealing with this.

I will be delighted to ensure that your feedback is highlighted to the Mr Panesar and the Management Team who will communicate your feedback to all of the team who work very hard to provide and promote a positive patient experience.

I hope this is acceptable and once again thank you for taking the time to provide your comments, patient feedback such as yours in very important to us.

With kind regards

Marie Helebert
