"The Staff? They are all Angels."

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Accident and emergency Russells Hall Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

I was taken to the hospital in the early hours. I had extreme abdominal, pain. This had been occurring for sometime but the few days previous had been constant.

On arrival at A&E I was registered & seen almost immediately. I was then assessed by a couple of different doctors was given quite a few different types of painkillers over the next few hour & eventually a suppository painkiller gave me some relief.

Bloods were taken & I was transferred to an assessment ward later that day.

The care I received in A&E was outstanding.

Once on this ward an ultrasound scan was performed. This showed numerous gallstones. A doctor came to see me. Not sure of their name. They said they would get the pain under control & I would go home & come back as an outpatient to see the consultant about having the gallstones removed.

I did not leave hospital, that day. The following morning another doctor came to see me. They said the same. That once the pain had subsided I would go home.

I was then transferred to B3. Once there I became violently sick & my pain was much worse.

A doctor came to see me & said that more blood test needed to be taken. At this point I was only being given painkillers.

I then noticed a rash, on my torso which I showed to the nurses. It was quite sore & blistered. I was told a doctor would come an examine me. Then was told the doctor did not have time as they had other patients to see.

On Sunday evening I was transferred to B2. I was felt very poorly.

That morning Mr Obass came to see me. He said that I needed intravenous antibiotics. He looked at the rash &'diagnosed shingles. At this point they had spread all round my torso. He had me moved immediately into a side room.

I was prescribed anti- bacterial antibiotics for the shingles & numerous intravenous antibiotics & painkillers.

The standard of care I received on B2 Station 1 was outstanding. The nurse & doctors that looked after me certainly deserve a medal.

I was diagnosed with Choleccystitis. I left over a week later.

I do need to go back for a scan & to see Mr Obass to arrange the op to remove my gallstones.

I wanted to write this review to highlight &'thank Mr Obass's team & all, the staff who looked after me. That is from the domestics who kept my room immaculate to the ladies who served me food & drink.

A particular thank you to the staff o B2 Sation 1 where I spent the majority of my stay.

They are all Angels.

They do not get the credit that they deserve. They standard is the same both day & night &'they are literally rushed of their feet.

Thank you
