"Mum;s care"

About: New Cross Hospital / Accident and emergency

Mum had cause to go to New Cross via ambulance at least twice this year - I think it was 3 times!

Unfortunately she died on the last occasion, she had been fading away for quite some time, having had dementia for 10 years, plus several other health issues.

Each time we attended we were struck by the much improved waiting room, the cleanliness, the calmness, the respect and caring attitude of all staff from the front desk right through to resus, the amu and beyond.

Mum was cared for so well, and we were involved by staff in careful explanations and choices.

When it was clear Mum was dying, the staff gave us time and space and still attended to mum's needs, and gave us tea and sympathy which were gratefully received,

We hadn't wanted her to die in hospital, but this was as good as it gets!

Please can our appreciation be passed on?

We hear so much about what is wrong with the NHS, but the staff were superb in their handling of a difficullt time.

Thank you all so much.
