I would like to say a huge thank you to the nurse that I saw today in the Walk In Centre. The service is clearly over stretched and in huge demand from the population of Manchester.
I visited the centre as I had been struggling with asthma for some weeks and was unable to see a Dr at my surgery until next week. On arrival the waiting room was incredibly busy with obvious long waiting times.
Despite this level of stress and high work load, all the staff remained friendly and positive not showing any sign of the pressure they were under. This kept the atmosphere in the waiting room calm with no instances of people getting angry or upset with the wait.
When I finally saw a nurse who was extremely sympathetic and understanding of my condition and immediately confirmed I'd done the right thing by coming. The nurse gave me plenty of time to talk and gave me a thorough consultation despite the large numbers of people waiting.
The centre is clearly under resourced as a result of NHS cuts but this is not reflected in the professionalism of the staff. They remained up beat and smiling with an excellent bed side manner.
Just wanted to say thank you really from a very grateful teacher (don't know if you can pass it on to the individual nurse who saw me as who was excellent)
