"EPAU"

About: Queen's Hospital / Gynaecology

I had a MMC at 20 weeks pregnant and came to EPAU for a medically induced miscarriage. I was shown to a private side room straight on arrival with a sign put on the door for nobody to disturb us. Although the doctors and nurses were crazy busy with other emergencies (doesn't help the staff that the ward is also a walk in pregnancy a and e) I was kept informed what was going on.

One of the (possibly trainee?) nurses clearly didn't want anything to do with us and couldn't deal with the situation but the rest of the team were amazing and so sensitive. Once baby was born the sister came to see us and was so understanding, couldn't have been more helpful sorting arrangements for us. This hospital is understaffed, overworked and gets a bad rap when in fact a lot going on is really good.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment regarding your attendance to our EPA unit.

It is wonderful to hear that the team were amazing and displayed such sensitivity at what was an extremely upsetting time for you.

I will ensure that your comments are feedback to the team as I know that this will mean a great deal to them.

Yours sincerely

Kathryn Halford

Chief Nurse
