I visited my out of hours doctors clinic with severe abdominal pain at 05:40 one morning. I was sent to Kettering General Hospital and was seen by a doctor and had bloods taken all before 06:15. I was seen my a surgeon soon after and was told that i would need to have an operation that day to remove my appendix. I can not speak highly enough of my surgeon and all of the staff. The surgeon who i spoke with originally was so informative, helpful and reassuring. I was placed in the Deene Acute Surgical Unit while awaiting the surgery and all the nurses and staff were brilliant. The anaesthetists and surgeons were very reassuring and friendly, which was a relief as i have never had surgery before. After the operation i was placed in Recovery, then moved back to Deene ward and finally on to Geddington ward before being discharged 2 days after the operation. Obviously nobody wants to be admitted to hospital to have surgery but the care and dedication from everyone was extremely pleasing to see. A huge thanks to all involved.
