"Lack of professionalism"

About: St Helier Hospital / Neurology

I have had treatment at St Helier's and the staff have been very welcoming and nice. From porter, receptionist, nurse, consultant and therapist, However, although the Neurology consultant was nice I left feeling like I had wasted their time. The examination was very quick and I had little time to know what was expected or response to the request before the consultant moved on. The conversation then changed to small talk. Nice but what I came for. It wasn't until I was told that there nothing wrong with my head and that my suspected condition was linked to "people like us" and that a final test will "end the chapter of your concerns", I thought...

Hmmm... that's not right.

It's a shame as until then I had high hopes for any outcome but if all comes to nothing or something, the lack of professionalism by the consultant has tainted any future experience in that department. I hope my next visit will be more welcoming.

From reading the other reviews I think it's fair to say that we are referring to a particular consultant. My advice to them would be to have some emotional intelligence and be a little patient.

Thank for taking the time to share this feedback with us. We are very pleased to hear that elements of the service you received were so good, including the staff being nice and welcoming. However, we are concerned to hear about the less positive aspects of your visit and would like to know more. We have shared this with the manager for the service, but in order for us to be able to look into this further we need a little more information. If you are happy to, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) to discuss - PALS can be reached on 020 8296 2508 or by emailing PALS@esth.nhs.uk.
