We were holidaying in Devon when our youngest daughter started getting very poorly with a high temperature, constant rubbing of her ear and a bad infection behind it.
We initially tried a local chemist for advice of where to go or to see if they were able to provide anything to help, they directed us to Bideford MIU who saw us promptly and advised that she would need to be seen by a doctor. The staff nurse at Bideford MIU called the paediatric ward at Barnstaple who said they would be happy to see her.
Once in North Devon District Hospital all of the staff on the Caroline Thorpe Ward couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. They took a great deal of detail down to get our daughter's medical history (as she has been prone to chest and ear infections for the last year). Once she had calmed down and was ready for home they let us have temporary open access until our stay in Devon was up, just in case.
They provided excellent care, advice and guidance throughout both the Bideford MIU and the Caroline Thorpe Ward at North Devon District Hospital. They helped a rather run down mum and dad who had never had to access healthcare outside of our local area before and for that we are very thankful. Our daughter is well on the way to being fully clear and a much happier toddler! A special thank you to Migs, who got screamed at on a couple of occasions just for taking readings! (our daughter asked "where's nice lady gone? " after we'd left: )
"They provided excellent care, advice and guidance throughout"
