"Social worker"

About: Good Hope Hospital Tamworth / Social Services

(as a carer),

I felt a social worker at Good Hope hospital was arrogant, ignorant of the facts and not bothered one bit about mum. They seemed to just want to send her out.

Dear pgc

Thank you for your post regarding a Social Worker at Good Hope Hospital. I am sorry that you have concerns but would like to advise you, that although Social Services Staff are based at Good Hope Hospital, they do not actually work for the trust, but for the local council. They are hospital based to enable joined up working with medical and nursing staff, to allow for assessments for any required social care input.

This is usually mainly Birmingham City Council Adults and Communities Team, or Staffordshire County Council, because it is dependent on where the patient lives and which council their home address comes under. If you would like to contact me on 0121 424 0808 or by email: marie.helebert@nhs.net I could clarify this for you once I have established additional information.

I hope this is acceptable and thank you for highlighting your concern. I look forward to hearing from you at your convenience.,

Kind regards

Marie Helebert

Update posted by pgc (a carer)

She fell over again, 5 minutes after the social worker left, so I would question whether she is perfectly ready for home as they suggested.
