On 2 out of 3 trips to A&E (by ambulance), I can't fault the care I received. The staff were caring and professional and I was seen very promptly. Third trip not so good - I was sent to A&E by my GP but the nurse practitioner who assessed me was patronising and dismissive, and refused to listen to my concerns. Even though I'd been crying in pain while waiting to be seen and told them clearly there was something wrong, the nurse practitioner insisted on pulling (quite forcefully) my arm around to 'test' my previously dislocated shoulder before telling me there was nothing wrong at all and to go home. My GP subsequently referred me to an orthopaedic consultant and a CT scan showed that my shoulder was in fact damaged. I had to have surgery to repair my shoulder and was off work for months. Perhaps try listening to patients who have experience of their own long-standing conditions?
