I cannot fault The Glenfield Hospital at all for my cardiac care and the Imaging Dept on a Saturday was very well run and pleasantly quiet. However, the letter states that the test I was having was a 'painless scan of the heart' and it actually was not painless at all. Admittedly I had just been in hospital locally to me with severe abdominal pain and I also suffer from Ehlers Danlos syndrome and am always in some pain, but the member of staff undertaking my test couldn't understand I was finding it very painful and did not initially stop when I asked them too. The member of staff pressed so hard where I had missing rib from a graft taken years ago that I felt physically sick. I honestly would not like to undergo that procedure again and I have had twenty years of non stop surgery, medication, investigations etc. I would rather have anything else!, and then when I asked could the member of staff tell me anything about whether my aorta had dilated further they simply said to me "I can't say but it is very large" which actually is worrying me more than a proper fact. I am just glad I am going to clinic early next week.
