My grandmother was recently admitted to Royal Bolton Hospital following a stroke.

In the first week she was in hospital she was moved to three different wards and during that period of time the hospital managed to lose half her belongings. Despite frequent requests to find out where the belongings had disappeared to, to this day (six weeks on) we are none the wiser.

However, she is now on the stroke ward awaiting move to a residential care and the care she has received on this ward has been excellent.

We're pleased that your grandmother has had good care on the stroke ward. We're sorry, however, that she had to have so many moves. Although specialist staff do see stroke patients whichever ward they may be on, we know this is far from ideal. A great deal of work is underway so that patients who have suffered a stroke go straight onto a specialist stroke unit. We're not there yet, but hope to make these improvements in the not too distant future.

We're sorry that your grandmother's belongings disappeared during her stay -- we're afraid we've not been able to look into this further without further information. If you haven't already done so, please contact the matron in charge of stroke care who will discuss this with you.
