I have had 2 episodes of surgical treatment for removal of Melanoma on my leg starting in spring 2015 up until now. This has involved stays in hospital followed by quite long periods of rehabilitation on my leg after the surgery.
I received very good care throughout the episodes from an early diagnosis, outpatient appointments, good inpatient care, and after care which included care provided at East Surrey Hospital and Horsham Hospitals.
The Royal Surrey has looked after me well from the time of the initial diagnosis following Imaging and Pathology tests, Outpatient appointments, and then being operated on. The follow up care has been well co-ordinated and timely. Staff in so many departments have helped me and have been very caring and communication has generally been very good. Patients like to know what is going on and the likely outcomes, etc. , and this has been a very positive feature of my care. My consultant Mr Pakzad and his team have been very caring and thorough, interspersed with good humour to lighten any darker moments! The care on Compton ward was very good and the nurses, the support staff, and the other professionals linked to the team such the physiotherapists did all they could to help me.
I am very grateful for all that has been done for me by the many people who have looked after me.
