"Great patient care. No TV or stairs & parking..."

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

Can't fault the care given to my mother in law both on arrival in A&E with a stroke then 3 weeks in Harvest B ward. She was treated with care and respect even when she was less than appreciative at times! On the downside:

Why would you build a hospital with no public access to the stairs? We often waited a long time to get up and down to the 4th floor, an added irritation especially when like today there was only one lift working.

No TV/radio for the patients, time really dragged for MiL with no entertainment.

Car parking was difficult at times and expensive.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. It is lovely to hear that the care provided to your mother in law, during her admittance to Queen’s Hospital was good. I am pleased that the staff treated her with care and resect at all times and your thanks will be passed on to the teams so that they are aware of your kind words.

Your comments regarding the lack of entertainment for our patients has been noted and highlighted to our Patients Experience Team.

In relation to car parking, we are in the process of working on short and long term car parking solutions.

Please be advised that all monies generated from parking are used to maintain the car parks, including security patrols and CCTV and also to support our sustainability programme to ensure we're a green organisation. In addition monies go towards land rates and charges and travel plan initiatives.

Any additional income is directed to clinical services. If you would like to discuss anything further please contact our PALS team on 01708 435 454, or by email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk, who will be able to assist you in any way they can.

Yours sincerely

Kathryn Halford
