"Visited with a broken thumb"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Minor injuries unit

(as the patient),

I visited here a few weeks ago when I broke my thumb by trapping it in a door.

I was seen very quickly and hardly had to wait at all. The staff were friendly, helpful and sympathetic.

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Dear dlogue24,

Thanks very much for letting us know about your recent experience in the Minor Injuries Unit at the Victoria. This is the perfect place to treat the type of injury that you had precisely because these type of not so serious injuries can be treated quickly and efficiently, without the waits that might happen in Emergency Departments where serious accidents or emergencies take priority. I'm glad that this was the case when you visited, and also that the staff looked after you so well - sounds like it would have been a really painful one.

I hope that your thumb is healing well and thank you for taking the time to get in touch,

Best Wishes,

Lorna
