"Too long to wait in accident and emergency at rotherham "

About: Rotherham Hospital

(as the patient),

At Rotherham General Hospital I went to the Respiratory Unit and the Admissions Ward. The information given to me was clear and helpful.

In the Accident and Emergency department it would have been better if I could have seen a doctor more quickly. I had to wait two hours and this was unacceptable. This did upset me, in view of my perception of urgency for the need to see a practitioner.

Many apologies for the delay in responding to your comments.

Unfortunately due to the nature of A&E we cannot guarantee a specific waiting time. The Trust consistently meets the national target of 4 hours waits within A&E, with currently around 60% of the 12,500 patients a month being seen within 2 hours.

Please be assured that we are continually striving to reduce our wait times in A&E as we fully appreciate that patients are often distressed and upset whilst using this service.
