"Wonderful service"

About: Nairn Town and County Hospital / General Medicine

(as the patient),

Being obese, with multiple health conditions- ie Type 2 diabetes, obstructive sleep apnoea, hypertension, hypothyroidism, asthma, chronic back and neuropathic pain, diverticulosis- I was in a very bad place back in July 2016. Having tried multiple "diets" over the last few years, which always failed- together with joining every slimming club over and over again- my life was in a downward spiral and I felt like a hamster on a wheel always striving but always failing.

Meeting Mairi has, quite literally changed my life for the better. Mairi has helped me find inner peace in respect of food and body image- by helping me to realise that food is not an enemy, and that we need healthy, nutritious food of, of a good quality which will nourish and fuel our bodies and brains. Planning is crucial and Mairi helped me see that occasional treats are okay- that's real life- and I feel liberated from the shackles of buying constant books and magazines on weight loss, with spiraling unhappiness when I failed.

No bariatric surgery for me! I am steadily losing weight, exercising more and I am a much happier woman now. I am looking forward to buying lots of new clothes and giving my "fat" clothes to charity!

Crucially, my health is also improving. I cannot thank Mairi enough- such a wonderful service. Should always be fully funded by the NHS!

Dear Wooded616,

Thank you so much for your posting.

This is such an encouraging story to receive and I am really delighted that you have found an approach that has helped improve your health and wellbeing - without, as you say, having to undergo surgery. It is amazing how the right person and the right approach can alter one's life so significantly for the better.

I would like to feedback to Mairi and so would be grateful if you could please provide me with any more information - e.g. her second name, her role and where she is based?

Many thanks again for taking the time to post this feedback and wishing you continued success and improved health.

All the best

Pat
