What I liked

I was grateful to be in a room by myself. The staff always did whatever they could to help me. On a couple of days, when I felt unable to go to the dining room, no fuss was made about my eating in my room. My treatment was at all times courteous and kind.

What could be improved

I am 55 years old and was relatively young in comparison with other patients at the hospital. I was always treated with courtesy and kindness, but then, I was never considered a nuisance.

It came to my knowledge that, on occasions, the night staff were not understanding and patient towards another patient, who, because of her condition, did cause a fuss.

I believe that this lack came as a result of shortage of staff. There were many instances, that I witnessed, both during the day and at night, when it was apparent that the staff were taxed to the limit of their patience, because of shortage of staff. I found that I often felt extremely sorry for the staff. I also felt quite angry with the authority in charge of budgets and with the government, which does not allow our wonderful doctors, nurses and hospital staff to be given the resources and help for which they are desperate.
