My GP referred our 1 year old son to A&E as he seemed dehydrated (not eaten or drank for 2 days) and diagnosed with tonsilitis. Our GP had called the paed A&E team and was told they were expected us.
We were given a letter to give to staff. We turned up to A&E and no one was interested in the GP letter or was concerned that we had a GP referral.
When we did eventually get seen, we felt like the nurse was awful! They were miserable and not at all sympathetic.
We then had to wait to see a doctor who was equally miserable! ! There was no urgency from the staff knowing that my son needed antibiotics asap.
For a paediatric A&E, we felt like the staff were as if they worked in a morgue!
"No one was interested"
