"inpatient care in queens 1 ward over XMAS 16"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was an inpatient after a hip fracture for 4 days over christmas in Queens 1. I would like to thank all the nursing and healthcare staff for their expert skills, but also their kindness and compassion. They inspired great confidence, as did the medical and theatre staff. The food was good too and the catering and housekeeping staff great at improving my morale.

I am very pleased to hear that you had a good experience on Queens 1 ward over Christmas. It was pleasing to hear that all the people you met gave you confidence at such a worrying time and I shall pass your kind words on to the entire ward team.

The trust has made many improvements to the housekeeping and catering services, so it is really good to hear that this lifted your morale. The ward hostess and housekeeper in particular will appreciate your feedback.

The recent improvements include -

- Housekeepers on every ward

- New improved menu

- Discontinuation of powdered tea, now every ward patient gets fresh tea made with a tea bag!

- A new patient 'special diet' communication board for all staff, which was developed by the matrons

Thank you for taking the time to write your review and I hope that you continue to make good progress after your operation.

With best wishes

Hilary Frayne
