"Not enough nurses on the wards at Fazakerley"

About: University Hospital Aintree / Hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery

(as the patient),

I recently went to Fazakerley Hospital on to ward 1 and ward 19. I had my Gall Bladder removed. I felt relaxed going down to theatre thanks to staff on the ward and to a wonderful surgeon and anesthetist, I felt safe in their hands.

The after operation treatment on the ward was not so good. I was left in a blood stained gown and bedding. This did upset me as the day of the operation the nurses didn't see to me until midnight and I had been to theatre at 9.00am. I found that the nurses are so busy on the wards, it was difficult to get their attention to take out the catheter and drain. They did their best, more hands on staff are needed.

I would like to thank the staff, Miss G the surgeon and Dr D, they all did a wonderful job.
