Now that the time has come for the Trauma Psychoeducational group to end, I just wanted to write you a little letter to say a massive thank you.
As you are aware, I was a little sceptical as to whether this group would be of any benefit to me. It did take a couple of sessions for me to engage fully and participate at my full potential. However, I am very glad that I stuck with it and saw it through to the end.
Certain sessions I found quite difficult such as the one regarding self-harm. But no matter how tough it was to get through. I am glad that I persevered with it.
I have learned a lot of coping techniques and also (possibly most importantly) how to ask for help.
After the seventh session I actually noticed the tell-tale signs of an overdose and potentially saved someone’s life by getting this individual help from medical staff.
I know I still have a long road ahead of me in regards to my recovery. But I am feeling so much better than I did before session one.
So yet again.....Thank you for all of your hard work time and effort. It has really helped me to focus on my future and healthily process my past.
I really hope this group is given the go ahead to run on a regular basis in HMP Nottingham as I know that there is a lot more people within the prison that would benefit from it.
All the best from
