"Unnecessary stress"

About: Johnson Hospital / Respiratory medicine Pilgrim Hospital / Respiratory medicine

(as the patient),

I’m 89, I live alone and have no relatives close by to help. Last December I was admitted to the Pilgrim Hospital with pneumonia, whilst in hospital they did various scans of my chest and found something they assumed was cancer. I was told that whilst I would be discharged they would be referring me to the Johnson hospital in Spalding, this is quite a long way from home for me.

Whilst I was at home, I made my will and sorted out all the probate stuff and prepared myself as best as I could for the appointment at the Johnson Hospital. When I attended this hospital in January the consultant said it was not cancer at all, but a mark on my lung.

Looking on the positive side this was good news, and the news from the Pilgrim hospital forced me to make my will. However, it has been extremely stressful, not to say unnecessary. As you can image I was very low over Christmas, very upset and dreading the appointment at the Johnson hospital all the time.

As I said, Spalding is quite a distance from where I live, I had to get a taxi there and back. I feel it was all such a waste.
